Today is Kristen's Birthday. We talked for at least an hour on the phone yesterday and I completely spaced wishing her an early happy birthday. I'm wishing she was here so we could go out and do something fun to celebrate.
I don't know what I can say about this friend of mine that I haven't said before. Since Kristen has moved their family has faced some challenges, but I'm glad to say that things are working out for them. One of the reasons I admire Kristen is the way that she keeps on trucking through life and doesn't let herself become of victim of the circumstances she's in. Although I've been the listening ear on many venting sessions, (who doesn't need one of those once in a while?) she always manages to come out stronger and with a better attitude and ready to move on to the next thing to conquer. And sometimes as a mom you have to watch your kids go through difficult times and watch them make hard choices. Recently after moving to Albany, they found out the football league for Tyler only had games on Sundays. Football is one Ty's most favorite things in the whole world and he was totally crushed that he wouldn't be able to play. Although she was sympathetic and felt so bad for him, I really admire that she helped him see that it was for the best and it wasn't the end of the world and she helped him find an alternative in a flag football league that played during the week. She is always trying to teach her children the right and important lessons of life and that is not an easy thing to do. They are lucky to have such a good example as a mom.
So even though I and the rest of the B-squad can't be there to help her celebrate and blow out some candles on a cake, I'll make some birthday wishes for her:
*That everything goes smoothly from here on out with their new house
*No more leaky roofs
*To meet some good friends
*To never have to live in a little apartment that smells like mildew again
*Lots of happy new memories that will come this year
Happy Birthday Kristen!
