Don't forget to hang your flag today. We must never forget.
Recently our newspaper asked the question, "Do you think we are doing enough as a country to remember the attacks of 9/11?"
I wish they could talk about it in the schools more and have some sort of assembly or way to formally acknowledge this day. I think our children need to hear about it over and over again, so that they never become comfortable in their thinking that this could never happen again to our country.

Thanks for the reminder Sarah. I always forget to hang my flag, even though this day is always so tender to me. I will always remember 9/11. I just posted on facebook my memory, but I'll post it here too.
On this day, I was watching the "Today Show" and holding Tyler. He was almost 1. It was early in the morning and Jack was just heading off to classes at OSU. I watched it on TV and I thought it was just a story that they were covering. It took Jack coming in to see it on TV to convince me that it was all happening now. He got to school late, & I was glued to the TV for the rest of the day. Called my mom and sisters and was glad to hear that my brother that was a flight attendant at the time was not flying that day!
Today when I was at the school I saw the flag on the schools flag pole flying at half staff and I thought I wonder how many students at that school would even know why we fly our flag that way today. Do they even discuss it? They should.
I like to hear what people were doing that day. It just shows what a profound impact that horrible event had on our country, and us as individuals.
We need a flag. I feel so un-American without one.
This was one of the few events in history that I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when it happened. I still have a heavy heart when I think about it.
It's crazy it's been 8 years since it happened. It doesn't feel like it's been so long. I was 9 months pregnant with Zack when it happened. Life has really changed for me since that day!
if we are complacent in our rememberance of this terrible event, one day people will question if it even happened like they do now with the holocaust.

I totally agree with you. It is a big event that has happened in their lifetime but I think the news just brush too much stuff under the rug and our children need to understand more about what happened, but also with some tact that it is not the nation we hate it is the group that is trying to destroy us.
