Miss Independant

Here's my little independant girl getting ready to head out the door for her first day of kindergarten this morning. Excited would be an understatement.

Do you think she was sad or nervous about anything? Hardly. While I waited with her before school started, she told me to leave about ten times and that she was fine there by herself. As I was turning to go, I glanced back to see two other little girls come and sit down by Kendle at her table and start talking to her. I stood outside the door for a moment and she looked up and caught my eye; I could see a twinkle there. Then she waved, and I was forgotten as she resumed her conversation. As I walked to the car I wasn't sad, but comforted knowing I did my job preparing her for this day. She has grown up so fast. All I want to hear when she comes home, is that she had a great day. And maybe, just maybe, that she missed me a tiny bit.

Kendle looked so cute at school today! She is so ready for school and I hope that she had a good day! I hope that she'll eventually get back on that bus! I just get all teary eyed when I think about her bus experience! Have a great week being a mom with a kid in School!

What a great perspective, good for you not being sad. I think I'll be sad, but then again- its still two years away...

We're in Corvallis and Zack told my mom yesterday, "Grandma, I'm sorry, but we're going to have to leave on Monday so I can be back in time to take my bus to school on Tuesday." We went and got his backpack yesterday...Batman. Very cool. So we're all ready...

How exciting for Kendle. It was a little bit of a rough day for me when my oldest went to school. It's so bittersweet!

The bus was a fiasco. Kendle didn't get home until 1:00!The bus didn't even leave the school until after 12:00, (Kindergarten ended at 11:25). To say I was livid would be an understatement.
