Wednesday marked the day of Kendle's first soccer practice. She seemed to really have fun, but I'm not sure what she was more excited about- playing, or getting to wear her new cleats and shin guards. Riley ran them a lot and she did seem quite tired afterwards. Pretty good deal I'd say. Their first game will be this coming Saturday. Anyone else have a child on a U-6 team with TCYSA this year?
Thursday night we watched the Oregon State vs. Utah football game and I'm happy to say the Beaver's pulled out a victory 24-7, to start the season right. Proof of OSU's amazing defense was shown once again as two of Utah's starters were injured, one being their quarterback who after a grueling game ended up with a dislocated shoulder. Ouch! Not a good way to start off the season. We kept trying to spot our family and friends who were at the game, but ended up only seeing the usual sorority girls in the front row that the camera men just can't seem to get enough of . (Gag) Anywho, go OS. Looks like Canfield will be the QB and Yvenson Bernard is still in top form. I think I"ll still be keeping my fingers crossed for the next game though..jpg)
WSU wasn't quite so lucky, but did put up an initially good fight against Wisconsin. Final score ended up being 42-21. The Cougs put a good scare in them though, and did a pretty good job of representing the Pac-10. I pretty much root for any Pac-10 team (as long as their not playing against the Beavers) because most of the other conference's are highly over rated and they never rank the Pac-10 teams as high as they should.

Pasco Bulldogs pulled off a season-opening win against Rainer Beach 28-14. Carlin Andrew is the Dog's new quarterback this year, filling Shane Kelly's gigantic shoes. He finished 8-of-12 with 200 yards. Not off to a bad start. Hope you all can get out to at least one game this year. Pasco's games are basically like watching a college game, so fun.

Friday afternoon I picked Kendle up from school and then headed to Umatilla, OR to watch my little sis Tamra play in her v-ball tournament. They ended up tying for first place and beat last year's 2A state champs. Not too shabby. She had quite a few blocks and hits and served really well. Their team has improved a lot since last year, but still need to work on jumping higher and looking a bit more enthusiastic about playing. Their coach is basically worthless, so I end up yelling a lot of unsolicited advice from the bleachers. Her next game is another tournament this Thursday at Mac-Hi. Hope I can go.
*I don't pretend to represent the world of sports, these opinions and comments are mine alone and do not represent the opinion of said college's or school's. OK, that was my disclaimer.
Hope this was at least a little interesting for all you gal's, and hey if you really want to shock your husband, ask them what they thought about Appalachian State beating Michigan.

I'm so mad Sarah because I started watcing the APP St Mighegan game but Camden wanted to watch NASCAR and I thought, "No way APP St wins, why not?" After seeing the score when the Craftsman Truck Series was over, I was so mad.
Now I know why you and Riley are perfect for eachother. You're just as much of a sports nut as him. Great post.
They are calling that game the biggest upset in college football history, I don't know if that's exactly true because I think school's like Michigan are usually ranked higher than they should be anyway. That's what they get for trying to schedule an easy game preseason.
All I can say is WOW, that was a lot of sports for one week.
You're right though, PAC-10 teams don't get the same respect that ACC and Big 10 and Big East teams do. Case-in-point; last year when BSU beat Oregon State, it should have been a big deal, but it wasn't. It shows the lack of respect for OSU. Now, if BSU beat Michegan, they would have been going nuts like they are now with Appy State's upset. I hope it doesn't ever change though, because I love it when Oregon or WSU or Cal beats Ohio State or Oklahoma or Florida. It's like sweet revenge.
Ok, my husband is going to be so impressed with my new sports knowledge thanks to you! He'll think I'm watching ESPN instead of the cooking channel.
I'm glad you keep us updated on all the sporting stuff - it's fun to hear all about Tam. We saw Tuck at the Beaver game and were excited to hear he decided to move to Albany - hopefully this means we'll see him more often.
The real question is How did RILEY survive the soccer practice? Was he just as beat as the little people?
Wow, Sarah! You are a true sports fan! I can't even begin to imagine what my husband would think of me if I were this into sports! He'd be in heaven! Good for you!
Deb-
Yes, Riley was just as beat as the little ones. It's pretty exhausting trying to wrangle a bunch of 5 and 6 year olds around. He kept trying to tell them, RUN FAST!!!! They don't quite get it yet. Oh, well.
Sar,
thanks for the update. Keep up the good work. Maybe I'll meet you somewhere and we can watch VB together for old times sake!
This is soo cool. I'll have to ask Jack if he saw the highlights of the Michigan game. We did get a chance to watch a little of the BYU game this weekend! The Beaver Game was AWESOME! I'm so glad that we went and it didn't rain! Thanks for all the updates! Keep them a comin'!
One other thing I was going to comment about re: sorority girls on camera at the Beaver game was there was one point where there was one girl on the jumbotron leaning over to give the camera the "#1" sign, looked up at the jumbotron and saw how far her boobs were hanging out and turned BEET RED and sat down. It was comical! Classic.
