get ready.........
oh no they didn't...........
New Kids On The Block
They have gotten back together and are attempting to make a comeback. They performed their song "Single" off their new album "The Block" and I have to say that I was bopping along with it as I ran. Not only that, but they brought back some of their sweet dance moves for the performance. At the end of the show they performed "Step By Step" from the old school and I'm not ashamed to admit that I remembered all the words.
Them back in the day:

Now:

While interviewing them, Elizabeth Hasselback was totally flustered, because like me she had been a huge fan back in the day. I always had the biggest crush on Joey McIntyre and I used to have a large poster of the NKOTB on the outside of my bedroom door that I think one of my brothers ripped off in some disagreement we had. (anyone want to fess up to that one?) I probably had it coming after making my family endure endless hours of "Hanging Tough" and "The Right Stuff".
As I was watching the grown women in the audience singing along to the songs, I thought back to an Oprah show where she had David Cassidy on and all of the middle aged women were going wild. I couldn't believe they were still ga-ga over some guy that was popular in the 70's. Now, admittedly, I am one of those people enthralled by the possibility that my favorite boy band from grade school could be making a come back.
I remember in the third grade I literally thought my life was coming to an end because I wasn't able to go to the Tiffany/NKOTB concert. I had to listen to my friends talk about it for weeks while I seethed in silence.
Yeah, I know there is a certain amount of cheesiness that is associated with boy bands, but sometimes I like a big slice of cheese. It's that inner-suppressed-teeny-bopper that's just dying to get out.

Who are we kidding...every one of us has a bit of tenny-bopper left inside us. I like to think it keeps me young and hip! I'm sure my kids at some point will tell me that this intended result is not the actual result - I'm sure it actually will make me old and nerdy.
yeah, i saw the view too. funny cause i don't normally watch it but i was looking for something to distract me from housework. made me feel a little old...especially when the one guy said he had 4 kids! the old men still got some moves! :)
So funny Sarah. I know they made a lot of girls hearts beat a little faster. And I guess they still do. How fun.
I'll admit to it, but I was just jealous of their awesome moves and cool hair! haha
O R E Oooo.....the white stuff!
Jer
Who doesn't like a big slice of cheese??? Are you going to the reunion concert?
I wish I would've seen the View today. The NKOTB were the best back in the day. I'm anxious to hear their new song. I can just see you running along while singing to all of the old songs. Too funny.
I too loved me some NKOTB back in the day. Now...not so much. But I will say that Joey is still HOT!
Sarah,
This comment is from my sister, Marianne. She said she couldn't leave a comment on your blog. So she wanted me to do it for her.
I love NKOTB!!! I saw a poster at Walmart last week. I can't believe they are back together. Was that poofy hair really cute to us?? I must say, I can look at them now and not feel all funny inside. Loved the flashback, I think I can still sing all those songs too. Did they ever make another album or just that first one?? Thanks for the flashback. Let me know if you go to their concert.
